Welding and NDT Inspector

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Review and verify welding-related documents including WPS, PQR, WPQ, ITPs, method statements, and fabrication drawings.

• Carry out pre-welding, in-process, and post-welding inspections in accordance with approved procedures and applicable standards.

• Perform and supervise visual inspection (VT) of weld joints and completed welds.

• Coordinate, witness, and review NDT activities such as UT, MT, PT, RT, and other required examination methods.

• Verify calibration status and proper use of welding, inspection, and testing equipment.

• Witness welder performance qualification tests and ensure compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.

• Identify non-conformances, raise NCRs, and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

• Review and endorse NDT reports, welding inspection records, weld maps, and final quality documentation.

• Ensure proper storage, handling, and control of welding consumables and filler materials.

• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Client or Third-Party Inspectors to resolve quality-related issues.

• Support internal and external audits related to welding and NDT activities.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASME Section V, VIII, IX, B31.3, API, AWS, and relevant ISO standards.

• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and quality requirements.

• Proficient in the use of inspection tools such as weld gauges, measuring instruments, and NDT equipment.

• Familiarity with quality management systems, inspection reporting, and documentation control procedures.

• Ability to prepare accurate inspection reports and technical correspondence.

Experience & Additional Requirements

• Proven experience in welding inspection and NDT activities within fabrication workshops or industrial/construction projects.

• Experience in steel structures, piping, pressure vessels, or similar industrial applications is preferred.

• Strong coordination, communication, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.

• Good command of the English language (reading, writing, and communication).
