Job Summary: A Steel Fixer is responsible for cutting, bending, assembling, and securing steel bars (rebar) used in reinforced concrete structures. The role ensures structural integrity by preparing and positioning steel reinforcement according to project specifications and engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities: - Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine steel reinforcement requirements. - Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel bars and mesh according to design specifications. - Position and tie steel reinforcement using wire, clips, or other fastening methods. - Ensure steel placement complies with project plans, safety regulations, and quality standards. - Collaborate with engineers, foremen, and other construction personnel to maintain schedule and quality. - Inspect and repair defective reinforcement work. - Maintain tools, equipment, and worksite cleanliness. - Assist in lifting, transporting, and placing heavy steel materials safely.
Qualifications / Skills: - Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or Rebar Worker in construction projects. - Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and blueprints. - Proficiency in measuring, cutting, bending, and tying steel reinforcement. - Physical strength, stamina, and manual dexterity for heavy lifting and precise work. - Knowledge of safety procedures and construction site regulations. - Attention to detail and ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.
Working Conditions: - Work is primarily on construction sites, outdoors, exposed to weather conditions. - Frequent lifting, bending, and working at heights or in confined spaces. - Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. - May require overtime depending on project deadlines.
