The QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting customer-supplied equipment and materials received for repair, overhaul, or refurbishment to confirm identity, condition, scope of work, and suitability for repair before release to production. The role ensures clear technical baseline, protects the company from liability, and supports accurate repair planning and costing.
Additional Key Responsibilities (Customer Materials)
- Perform initial condition assessment of customer-supplied items upon receipt (as-received inspection).
- Verify customer documentation: work order, scope of repair, drawings, serial numbers, tag numbers, and previous service records (if available).
- Record as-received condition including damages, wear, corrosion, missing parts, or abnormal conditions (photos and reports).
- Confirm material identification and traceability where applicable.
- Identify repair limitations or risks (e.g., severe corrosion, cracks, deformation) and escalate to QA/Engineering.
- Support repair feasibility evaluation and input to repair quotation when required.
- Ensure no repair activity starts before QC release and customer approval (if deviations are found).
- Raise NCR / Condition Report (CR) for discrepancies between received condition and customer scope.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Representatives during pre-repair inspections or joint inspections.
- Maintain as-received inspection records as part of the repair dossier.
