Assistant Accountant

Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This role will involve managing various tasks related to banking, petty cash, and supporting the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, a good understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple financial duties with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bank-Related Matters:
• Perform daily reconciliation of bank statements to ensure accurate records.
• Monitor bank accounts, process payments, and handle transfers as required.
• Assist in managing cash flow, ensuring sufficient balances for business operations.
• Liaise with the bank regarding account-related queries and issues.
• Assist in preparing weekly and monthly bank reports.
• Petty Cash Management:
• Monitor and manage petty cash transactions, ensuring accuracy in records.
• Review and approve petty cash reimbursements, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Maintain proper documentation of all petty cash disbursements and receipts.
• Perform regular petty cash reconciliations to ensure balances are accurate.
• Invoice Monitoring (AP & AR):
• Assist in the processing and monitoring of Accounts Payable invoices, ensuring timely payments.
• Ensure proper coding and categorization of expenses related to AP.
• Monitor Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely collection of payments from clients/customers.
• Support the preparation and review of aging reports for AP and AR.
• Communicate with vendors and clients regarding overdue payments, discrepancies, and queries.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports related to AP and AR.
• General Accounting Support:
• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
• Prepare monthly journal entries for various transactions, including accruals and prepayments.
• Provide support in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, and profit and loss reports.
• Support senior accountants in financial audits as required.
• Other Administrative Tasks:
• Maintain filing and documentation systems for financial records.
• Assist with ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects as required by management.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, particularly in handling banking, petty cash, and AP/AR tasks.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A good understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
